1. Visit to Remote Sensing Centre – March 2016

With a view to make students aware about the application of Statistics in diverse fields, Department Of Statistics had arranged a study tour of P.G. and U.G. students on 11-03-2016 to “Remote Sensing Centre, VNIT Campus, Nagpur. Prof. in charge , Dr. Gayatri S. Behere took initiative and responsibility in arranging this study tour. She was accompanied by Dr. P. R. Singh and Mrs. M. V. Alsi. Around 80 students participated enthusiastically in the tour.

Mrs. Kavita Kolhe, Mrs. Sapna Deotale and Mrs. Neelima Shrivastav Scientists, remote sensing centre gave lectures on different aspects of remote sensing and interacted with the students.

2 Visit to National Sample Survey Office ( NSSO) - 26 th September 2017

A visit to NSSO was arranged for the Post graduate students of Department of Statistics ,Institute of Science, on 26 th September 2017. A batch of 40 students along with the faculties Dr K S Bhanu ,Dr Sandhya Dhabe and Mrs Meera Alsi visited the Office.

The students were taken on a tour of different departments of the Organization like Field Operations Division (FOD) ,Data Processing Division (DPD) - etc. This was followed by presentatios by Dr T K Basu ,Director General who spoke about the role of NSSO and importance of Statistics in NSSO. This was followed by presentations by other members of the organization , Mr Kirankumar , Ms Kirti Gaikwad and Ms Ruhi Kulkarni . The students were also guided on how to prepare of Indian Statistical services and State Statistical services. Overall, the visit was very informative , useful and enjoyable.
