Ten Days Pre-Ph.D. Course Work Organized by IQAC
on
“RESEARCH METHODOLOGY & COMPUTER APPLICATION”
(20th to 30th April, 2016)

On behalf of R.T.M. Nagpur University, Nagpur, IQAC of Govt. Institute of Science, Nagpur had organized ten days Pre-Ph.D. course work programme on “RESEARCH METHODOLOGY & COMPUTER APPLICATION” during 20th to 30th April, 2016.

The workshop was open to all subjects under the faculty of science and this was a successful event organized by IQAC.
Due to the overwhelming response received from the participants from different field of science for the course, the RTM Nagpur University, granted special permission for enhancement of seats from 60 to 71 participants.
The Objective of this course was to pay attention to the most important dimensions of Research. The mission of the course was to assist researchers to develop and adopt most appropriate methodology for their research studies and to impart research skills to the beginners and help them to improve the quality of Research by the existing researchers. Eminent and expert speakers were invited for the guidance of the participants.
Contents of the course work mostly focused on foundation of research methodology and important computer tools which researchers should know. The Course structure was designed in such a way that the learning of Research Methodology can move from mugging up syndrome to fun-practical method; from a teaching process to an experimental process, from memorizing to brainstorming, from clearing the examination to feedback learning, from knowledge transfer to knowledge creation, from competitive learning to collaborative learning.
This workshop was conducted under the chairmanship of Dr. R. G. Atram, Director, Institute of Science, Nagpur, and Dr. Archana Nerkar, Convener for this course. Dr. Ramdas Lihitikar, Librian and Dr. Abhay Khamborkar, Assistant Professor, Department of Statistics were the Organizing Secretary. The feedback received from the participants was very positive and encouraging.

PATENT AWARENESS PROGRAMME
(21st September 2016)

The patent awareness programme was organized at Government Institute of Science, Nagpur, on 21st September, 2016 by the IQAC. Research students and all faculties of the Institute attended the programme.
Dr. Vijaya Sangawar, Professor and Head, Department of Physics, welcomed the dignitaries and participants. The programme was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Dr. Chhaya Satpute, Documentation Manager, Rajiv Gandhi Institute of IPR, Nagpur. In her speech, she stressed the importance and need for registering patents.She also explained the utilities of such activity and how patents can also be registered and assigned just the same way as any other immovable property, its importance in the light of new agreements such as TRIPS and WTO.
The President of the programme spoke about, how inventors in the past had helped technological and social development. The programme was compared by Dr. Naqui Siddiqui and vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Sushma Narkhede, IQAC Coordinator.

FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME IN ENTEREPRENERSHIP
FOR
FACULTY OF ENGINEERING, POLYTECHNICS AND SCIENCE COLLEGES
(13rd to 24th December, 2016)

In collaboration with Maharashtra Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (MCED) Nagpur, Govt. Institute of Science organized two week Faculty Development Programme in Entrepreneurship for faculties of Engineering, Polytechnic and Science Colleges from 13th to 24th December, 2016 at Institute of Science, Nagpur. This programme was sponsored by DST and NSTEDB of Govt. of India.

Programme was conducted in three parts:

  • Part-A: Issue pertaining to Entrepreneurship development process
  • Part-B: Govt. initiatives in developing SME and insight into industrial environment with focus on process of establishing SME.
  • Part-C: Presentation of models for implementation of techno entrepreneurship development.

It included use of conventional as well as non-conventional ways of learning and training. Although classroom method is convenient mode, theoretical sessions, group discussions, simulation exercise, case studies, interaction, and field visit of industries was organized.
Objectives of programme were:

  1. Faculty Development Program (FDP) aims at equipping the teachers with skills and knowledge that are essential for inculcating entrepreneurial values in students and guiding and monitoring their progress towards entrepreneurial career.
  2. Create an awareness of the need and importance of entrepreneurship.
  3. Impart knowledge and develop skills in diverse training methods in imparting training to students and entrepreneurs.
  4. Plan curriculum that can imbibe the skills and competencies to achieve goals directed by values, have a positive attitude and have the ability to cope with the changing times.
  5. Develop teachers with an entrepreneurial and professional mindset.
  6. Make them aware about promotional financial & regulating schemes for Micro Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME).
  7. Guide them for techniques of preparation of feasible & viable project.
  8. Guide them for “Techniques of proposal preparation”.

Ten faculties of Institute of Science, Nagpur and twenty seven from various colleges of Nagpur region were the participants. We are thankful to Mr. H. R. Waghmare project officer MCED for their excellent efforts and guidance to make this programme successful. Programme was conducted under the chairmanship of Dr. R. G. Atram, Director, Institute of Science, Nagpur, and was coordinated by Dr. Sushma Narkhede Coordinator, IQAC. Dr. Suhas Buddhe, secretary of Vidarbha Industrial Association and a successful businessman guided all the participants in the valedictory function.

GUEST LECTURE ON QUALITY ENHANCEMENT MEASURES
(7th March, 2017)

IQAC, Institute of Science, Nagpur has organized a Guest lecture on “Quality Enhancement Measures” by Dr. S. S. Mukherjee, Associate Professor and Head, department of English, Kamala Nehru College, Nagpur on 7th March, 2017.
She spoke on many topics like the role of Co-ordinator, Operational Features of the IQAC Monitoring Mechanism, The Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR) of the IQAC, Institutional website, etc. It was very fruitful lecture to all staff members and IQAC committee members.

PARENTS TEACHERS MEET 2016-17
(25th March, 2017)

Institute of Science, Nagpur had organized a parent-teacher meet on Saturday, 25th March, 2017, in Chemistry smart class room at 11.30 am. The main purpose of meet was to create a common platform, where teacher and parents come together to enrich the student’s educational experiences and discuss variety of issues, regarding all round development of students.
The meeting was organized under the guidance and president ship of Dr. Vijaya Sangawar, Professor and Head, Department of Physics. Teachers and parents of students attended the meet.

The agenda of the meeting:
  1. Welcome and introduction of teachers and parents.
  2. To provide information about various student oriented activities and schemes run by Institute.
  3. To provide information about infrastructure and new future development at institute.
  4. Suggestion from parents.
  5. Any subject with permission of chair.

Parent teacher meet was inaugurated by Dr. Vijaya Sangawar. Welcome address and introductory speech was proposed by Dr. Sunil Ganatra, Chairman of Parent Teacher committee. He explained how Parent-Teacher can offer the best possible learning environment for the students. All parents gave their introduction and share their experience and suggestion with us.
It was really a proud moment to the Institute for getting very nice feedback from parents. The meeting was concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr. Sunil Ganatra.
