Report of Visit to Organo Mushroom Industries – 29th Aug. 2024

The Institution Innovation Council, and Department of Botany, Institute of Science, Nagpur organised a Visit to Organo Mushroom Industriesfor B. Sc. Sem-I students on 10th Aug. 2024. A total of 31 students along with three faculty members visited Organo-Mushroom industry. Dr. H. R. Pohekar (Head, Dept. of Botany) was in-charge of the visit. He was accompanied by Dr. N. B. Yemul and Ms. S. B. Shrikhande. Mrs. Priya Anil Bawaskar (Director, Organo-Mushroom, Nagpur) gave a powerpoint presentation of Edible mushrooms. She stated that, mushrooms play a crucial role in health management by providing vital minerals and vitamins. She also familiarized students and faculty members with various products derived from mushroom and available in market. Then she demonstrated spawn preparation, composting and mushroom cultivation steps in laboratory. She concluded that mushroom cultivation needs low investment and high profit business. She provided personalized guidance to students to develop business ideas.
