The statistics society aims to make students aware of the wide applications of statistics. Intra-collegiate Quiz contests are regularly conducted by the department. Wallpapers are a continuous activity taken up by our M.Sc. students throughout the year. A problem-solving contest called ‘Problem Corner’ is also organized by the Department. Last year the new recruits of NSSO were invited to the department to guide our students in preparing for ISS. Guest lectures and workshops are also regularly arranged.

Toppers of various exams are felicitated by the department. To encourage the P.G students, Dr. C. M. Deo Memorial award and Hege Memorial award are given to the toppers at the university examination. Cytel scholarships are also given to students willing to carry out their further studies in statistics. In the year 2013-14 a National level conference COSMA was organized in the department. A workshop on R was organized in the department on 8th, 9th and 10th of Oct. 2015.
